You see me standing here,
You know I'm this close to the edge.
I take a deep breath
And feel the emptiness inside,
And pour power through the hollowness,
And leap in to the sky.
I fall straight in to the heart of the sun,
And go up in a plume of white flames,
Showering white-hot sparks down on the land
Igniting fires in a million souls.
I burn with a light so bright you can't stand to watch,
Living a thousand lifetimes in the blink of an eye.
I am the ever-burning, everlasting,
And though you can't see it yet,
Forth from within I will bring a flame
With strength enough to ignite the heart of a universe.
We may scream to a violent end,
But in the fire our souls are consumed
And then again, given life,
We can live forever,
We will never fade away,
Because the ones like us can not die.
Oh to be immortal is madness
But mortality is a doomed fate,
To be like me is to have no balance,
But to be unlike is to be doomed to die,
I've walked to death's edge,
I looked and said, "Is this all it is?"
Incredulous, I turned back:
And I am indestructible.
I laughed because to die is too easy,
To live is just hard enough to enjoy.
To break is just insanely easy,
And to be made of something just tough enough is hard enough to love.
Oh darkness inside, oh taint within,
Brave the flame in my soul,
Death my friend, mortality my friend,
Walk beside me and feel me burn.
Oh night, oh night, my worst enemy,
Walk hand in hand with me
And I will burn away your dark.
Oh light, oh light, I raise song for you,
Embrace me and I will be your eternal heart.
And though all may end,
So we will begin.
And though we may end,
I refuse to fade away.
